Our committment to carpet recycling acknowledged

We’ve been featured in the latest newsletter from Carpet Recycling UK (CRUK).

Our commitment to and achievements in the scheme have been acknowledged in the e-newsletter. The piece also mentions our involvement in the responsible removal and recycling of vinyl and safety flooring as part of the Recofloor programme.

Here’s the piece in full:

TAKE-BACK: Branagan Flooring Services support the circular economy with carpet reuse and recycling

CRUK member Branagan Flooring has spent the last 16 years involved in the supply and installation of floor coverings for many different business sectors. Since 2006 they have been contracted to Manchester University on refurbishment projects. Carpet tiles supplied by Desso are often used in these refurbishments. This has the added advantage that all fitting offcuts and uplifted old bitumen backed tiles irrespective of source are recovered for reuse, recycling or energy recovery with zero to landfill.

Offcuts from domestic and commercial locations where broadloom is laid are also recovered. These are recycled by CRUK member Anglo Recycling for conversion back into new carpet underlay, demonstrating the benefits of a circular economy approach to business.

Kate Branagan says; “We take our sustainability and environmental responsibilities seriously, and are members of Carpet Recycling UK (recycling carpet and carpet tiles through Anglo Recycling and the Desso take back scheme) and Recofloor (recycling smooth vinyl and safety flooring). This is of benefit to us when bidding for business as sustainability is now well up the selection criteria.”
